Operation: Secret Santa

Here is a little reminder of a “campaign” I took part in last year along with some other big hearted Direct Sellers (and thousands of others outside of our industry) .  Even though I encourage you to shop small this year.. if you find yourself in Walmart or Kmart… play Santa.  You can anonymously pay on someone’s layaway.  Ask for one with toys.  Pay whatever you can (but leave a balance).  Even $15 helps a struggling family or single Mom.
This concept of “Secret Santa” was brought to my attention last year by my friend Tina.  Tina was working part time at Kmart.  During her shift, a gentleman came in and said he wanted to pay on a layaway.  He asked the ladies at the Customer Service Desk to “Just pick one with a variety of toys on it”.  Confused, they did as he asked.  He paid it all off but $3 which kept it active.  By the time he left, everyone at the Customer Service desk was in tears.
This act inspired me to share it with others last year and the results were incredible.  I am reminded (as I said last year) we can all be someone’s miracle.  If you want to be THAT miracle some single Mom is praying for, act fast.  Layaways must be paid by December 14th!
Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist…
