Three smart ways to use your smart phone in networking.

There is no doubt that the smart phone has changed our lives and culture.  We casually carry more computing power in our pocket than NASA had to launch the space race.  The question is, are we utilizing that power in business or are we stuck in the past when it comes to networking?  Here are three tips to help you network like a hi-tech pro!

Capture & Exchange
Business cards are D-E-A-D.  Not only are they low tech, they are also low yield.  The rate of return on handing out cards is dismal (a fraction of a percent).  Instead, digitally send your contact information on the spot. Create a contact file for yourself (Android or Iphone) with your website, email, phone number and social media profiles.   Text your new contact your information (you will have a send file option or send as a text option).  With one click, you have their information and they have yours!

Connect
Social media profiles give you an unprecedented opportunity to connect with others and add them to your network.  Utilize this tool with people that you meet on a daily basis, at networking events, home shows,  trade shows and beyond. People buy on the relationship.  Start building that relationship today!

Follow Up
Here is where the fortune lays!  It is the Achilles heel of our industry.  To ensure that you never miss an opportunty, create a follow up reminder on your calendar as an appointment. Ideally, this re-connection should take place in the next 48 hours!

Happy Networking!
Michelle
