Leaders, Do You Have a Silver Spoon?

Thought for the day… Do we really DESERVE what we feel entitled to?  Direct Sales can feel very much like a “what have you done for me lately” business.  It is the very nature of the business.  Recognition and attention is based on: current sales, current sponsoring, current title and current team volume.  It really is the only way to fairly benchmark.
Direct Sales is much like the entertainment industry.  In Hollywood, they do not give Oscars for performances 5 years old.    Yet many times, we feel that our past successes or even the success of those on our team should merit us special consideration.  That is ENTITLEMENT or a “Silver Spoon Syndrome”.    We feel that we are special because of who we ARE, what we HAVE done or a title we achieved in the PAST.
As Leaders, we would be well served to remember that we lead by example and by personal achievement.  Just as any heavy weight champion … we get up… get in the ring and we re-earn our title title.  We do it every day… every show… every month.
When we look at our current results do we really deserve what we expect?  Have we earned it this month or are we trading on the past?  Do we, in effect,  have a silver spoon in our mouth?
