Games… games… games. At least 3 times a day via social media someone asks me what game they should play at their home show. Steven Covey tells us to “begin with the end in mind”. So, in my experience, the question is not WHAT game should I play… the question is WHY should I play a game? What is the purpose behind the game? Our show is not a carnival. We don’t do games solely for the purpose of entertainment. Our PRODUCT is the entertainment.
So if we are not doing games for entertainment value… why do we do them? The answer is simple, we do games to BOOK and to RECRUIT! We add a game as an additional incentive to our “call to action”. Examples might be a “Book & Win” game where everyone who selects a date for a show {on the spot} has a chance to win a gift. Recruiting games may include an incentive to participate in an opportunity share. {We will cover specific games in a subsequent blog topic}.
So, before we scour the internet trying to find a great new game, we must ask ourselves WHAT do we need more of from our shows. If we need more bookings, we need to create a game that incentivizes bookings. If we need more recruiting leads… we need to create a game that encourages recruiting. Begin with the end in mind!
Note: Sometimes people feel the need to do an “Icebreaker”. My advice, work on greeting guests at the door and creating rapport… ice breakers become unnecessary.
