Let it go

It is no secret the I love the ocean.  My time at the beach is an opportunity to reflect, plan and move forward.  We ALL have negative thoughts or belief systems to some degree. We all have things that we worry about or fear.  One of the exercises that I engage is while at the beach is sand writing and I wanted to share it with all of those traveling to sandy shores this summer.

The concept it super simple, write the things that you want to release in the sand and let the ocean take them.  This is a liberating exercise!  Get real with the root of the issue.  You can’t wash away excuses.   A great example is this.. I often ask Mothers what holds them back.  They respond,  their children.  What actually holds them back is Mommy guilt, not the children.  What holds them back is an unreasonable expectation of a “good Mom”.  Name it and claim it, the real deal.  This takes a bit of soul searching.

So what is it?  Is it fear of rejection?  Is it failure?  Is it a health concerns?  Is it a relationship issue? Are you angry?  Do you feel that you are not “good enough”? Write the negative emotions, feelings and thoughts in the sand.  Watch as the tide carries them away. Don’t be surprised if you feel your spirit lifted as the ocean wipes the slate clean for you.  Each time you write, the ocean will create a fresh canvas!  My favorite time to do this is early morning, when the beach is quite and still.

Be blessed and be a blessing!

P.S. Let me hear from you on how this affected you and what you let go of in the sand.
