Happy New Year!

I LOVE January first!  It is a clean slate, a fresh start!  It reminds me of a pristine beach first thing in the morning…unblemished and I get to decide what I will write in that flawless sand.  It is the promise of a brand new year with 365 chances to make my dreams come true.   I realize that millions of Americans make resolutions they never keep.  New Year’s isn’t about resolutions for me.  It is a chance to refocus.  I look at the previous year and ask… what worked… what didn’t.. what were the wins… the shinning moments.  Then I plan the next year.

I always begin coaching with a dream sheet.  I am continually shocked at how many people do not have a Dream Sheet or a Vision Board (I am old school.  We called them Dream Sheets).  And how difficult it is for some people to create one.  It breaks my heart, truly.  “What do you want?” should be an easy question to answer.  Chances are very good that we will never attain those things that we can not see.  Crystal clear vision is essential to success.

So each January first, I create my sheet for the next year.  Taking off those things I have accomplished and replacing them with bigger dreams and goals.  As I began working on mine today, I thought I would share the process with you.

First, You can create yours in any format you would like.  You can do it on the computer and print it out or physically cut items out of magazines.   Oprah has a nice online  interface  that I often recommend.

Second, START DREAMING.  What do you want to: DO, HAVE, ACCOMPLISH or BECOME?  All of your dreams need not be business related.  For example, you may want to loose weight, read one book a month or strengthen your marriage.  Whatever you put down should either excite you are terrify you.  Pick the BIG things that make your heart beat faster.

Third, print multiple copes and post EVERYWHERE!  Every time you see your dream, they become a little more real and attainable to you. I have copies on my fridge, on my vanity mirror and in my office.  Every time I look at them I am reminded of where I am going, of my purpose!

Creating your board is not enough to make it happen.  You also have to commit yourself through work and planning.  After you have made your dreams tangible, it is time to create a business plan to make them a reality.  Contact me for your FREE planning session in January!  Mention the blog for your no cost appointment michelle.archer@comcast.net
