Happy Birthday Jim

Today would have been Jim Rohn’s 84th Birthday.  Jim is a man I never met, who helped to change the course of my life.  Through books, tapes and Cd’s, he expanded my vision, my understanding of life and my potential.   My very first Jim Rohn tape was, the Set of the Sail.  I will never forget listening to him in my car, absolutely riveted.   I am forever in his debt.  I hope that I can live my life as well and make a fraction of the contribution he did.

In honor of his legacy, I wanted to share a few of my favorite quotes and the lessons they taught me!  It was so hard to narrow it down. He was absolutely full of wisdom.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

I remember taking a good hard look at the people I was spending time with. Did they grow me, challenge me,  celebrate me?  Where they where I wanted to be? I realized that I needed to expand my circle and include people who intimidated me. If I was to grow, I was going to have to get horribly uncomfortable.

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
I decided to find a way. Even when I was tired, even when I was scared, even when I had been disappointed.  In the midst of that process, I found my strength and I discovered how much I love a good challenge.

“Successful people have libraries. The rest have big screen TVs”
I decided to become more than I was.  I reached out to people who had done it. I invested in speakers, books, magazines and seminars.  I quit waiting for my company to spoon feed me all the answers.  I took responsibility for my education and my success.

“If you don’t like how things are, change it. You are not a tree.”
I learned to quit feeling sorry for myself.  I was in control just as YOU are in control.  We all have the power to change our destiny.  Some of us just don’t use that power.

Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better.”
Everyday, I get up and I try to be better.  It is in the strugggle that we become great.

Thank you Jim & Happy Birthday,
Michelle
